Our pediatric services and treatments

Our pediatric specialty services

When your child needs advanced treatments beyond an annual wellness check, our physicians offer specialized services that include:

  • Pediatric endocrinology
  • Pediatric gastroenterology
  • Pediatric hematology/oncology
  • Pediatric neurology
  • Pediatric pulmonology

Pediatric endocrinology

Endocrinologists diagnose disorders of the endocrine system, comprised of the thyroid gland and adrenal gland systems. Our endocrinologists also address diseases affecting the body's ability to produce or maintain hormones.

Pediatric endocrinologists also treat:

  • Calcium metabolism disorders
  • Growth disorders
  • Osteoporosis and other disorders of bone metabolism
  • Puberty disorders, including early and late onset puberty

Pediatric gastroenterology

Pediatric gastroenterologists diagnose and treat conditions that affect your child's digestive health, including digestive pain, diarrhea, constipation and chronic conditions.

Acid reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a common condition we treat. This is a chronic condition that typically occurs in children ages 3-17. Common symptoms your child may experience include consistent upper abdominal pain, heartburn, regurgitation, and vomiting, as well as a burning pain in the chest right after or while eating. We offer a number of treatment options for GERD, as well as solutions for other GI issues like acid reflux and heartburn.

Additionally, we provide care for celiac disease and colitis. Patients with celiac disease cannot eat gluten and may experience inflammation, abdominal pain and diarrhea after eating something with even small traces of wheat, barley or rye. Colitis is a chronic condition where the colon becomes inflamed. This can be due to an autoimmune disorder or an infection.

If your child requires gastroenterological care, we will connect them with a team of doctors and specialists to come up with an effective and personalized care plan.

Pediatric hematology and oncology

Hematology and oncology are subspecialties that combine the treatment of blood diseases with cancer care, especially blood and bone cancer. This includes care for benign hematologic conditions, such as anemia, hemophilia and white blood cell disorders, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers, such as:

  • Hepatoblastoma
  • Leukemia
  • Lymphoma
  • Neuroblastoma

We are proud to offer an advanced pediatric stem cell transplant procedure to treat certain types of cancer. During this procedure, doctors transplant healthy stem cells into your child's bone marrow.

Pediatric neurology

Pediatric neurologists treat disorders affecting the central nervous system. They provide neurological care for headaches, migraines, seizures and a variety of other disorders and conditions.

  • Attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder (ADD/ADHD) — This is a chronic condition commonly identified by symptoms such as attention difficulty, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.
  • Autism — Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder that can affect a person's behavior, as well as their ability to learn, communicate and interact with other people. Common symptoms include difficulty socializing and speaking, struggling with nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.
  • Developmental delays — Developmental delays encompass a variety of developmental disabilities. Children with these conditions will often not be at the same stage of developing skills compared to their peers. This can manifest in several ways, including cognitive delays, delayed development of social skills, nerve-related symptoms (such as difficulty with motor skills), and speech and language delays.
  • Epilepsy — This neurological disorder is characterized by unprovoked and recurrent seizures, periods of unusual behavior and sensations and sometimes a loss of awareness. Some children with epilepsy may outgrow the condition with age.
  • Tourette syndrome — This nervous system disorder is characterized by sudden repetitive or uncontrollable movements or vocal sounds (often called "tics"). Although there is no cure for Tourette syndrome, various treatment options are available.

Pediatric pulmonology

Seeing your child experience breathing problems can be stressful, but our doctors specialize in providing comprehensive care for a range of respiratory conditions. We provide pulmonary care to infants, children and adolescents experiencing a range of symptoms including chronic coughs, recurrent pneumonia and wheezing and snoring.

The pediatric pulmonologists at our clinics also diagnose and treat chronic diseases and disorders affecting the lungs and chest. Respiratory conditions we treat include:

  • Aspiration syndromes

  • Chronic lung disease
